Operational Info

The National Street Gazetteer (NSG) is the definitive dataset of streets within England and Wales for street works, highways maintenance and traffic management. Some highway authorities have chosen to publish this data on Causeway one.network. The information is maintained by each highway authority and is updated on Causeway one.network every four weeks.

The National Street Gazetteer contains the following information:

  • Details of ownership
  • Width and height restrictions
  • Details of protected streets
  • Details of traffic sensitive streets
  • Details of streets with special engineering difficulties
  • Level crossing safety zones
  • Environmentally sensitive areas
  • Streets with special surfaces
  • Structures
  • Pipelines
  • Streets with priority lanes
  • Streets with special construction needs

National Street Gazetteer data is provided by participating highway authorities via the NSG Hub maintained and supported by Geoplace. National Street Gazetteer is subject to © Crown copyright and database rights 2023 Ordnance Survey (licence number 100019520).

TomTom Live Traffic Incidents

Waze Live Incidents

Waze automatically calculates traffic jams by comparing current road conditions with historical road data. When traffic on a segment is below average speed for that time of day/week, we identify it as a slowdown or jam. These are then compared with user GPS signals and user reports. Data provided by Waze App. Learn more at Waze.com.

Live traffic

Live traffic layer is provided by TomTom.

Live Traffic data information is available for all areas of Great Britain and is displayed on roads where TomTom has sufficient data coverage at the time of viewing. Road closures, roadworks and other traffic disruptions that are causing severe delays are also displayed at TomTom's discretion. Causeway one.network has no control over the display of such traffic disruptions but we are working with TomTom to help improve the validation of official information from UK highway authorities with a view to achieving greater alignment between the TomTom traffic flow data and other sources of information on Causeway one.network. For more information about TomTom traffic flow data please contact TomTom.
